Cheaters have always been the worst part of the online multiplayer experience, and previous Battlefield games have suffered for it. Now, developer DICE is making plans to permanently ban Battlefield 2042 cheaters without any warnings or suspensions.
This news comes via an EA blog post. DICE will use the Easy-Anti Cheat service to detect cheaters. Since this service helps protect popular games such as Apex Legends, it should do a good job ridding the “battlefield” of pesky cheaters.
The more surprising thing, though, is that DICE has announced an absolute zero-tolerance policy for cheating. Cheaters who are caught will be banned immediately across all systems. This means you cannot simply take your account over to another platform and begin playing this cross-play game again. And they aren’t afraid to do hardware and IP bans to keep out the most persistent cheaters.
In addition to the EAC service, DICE is relying on players to report suspected cheaters. You will get follow-up notifications when the Enforcement Team receives your report about what action they end up taking. If a player thinks they were banned unfairly, they can always appeal the decision via EA support.
In addition to reporting cheaters, Battlefield 2042 will allow you to report things such as in-game harassment, offensive names, offensive chat (both via voice and via text), and players who take measures to sabotage the game (presumably, this refers to screwing your teammates over in a match).
Of course, the easiest thing to do when it comes to annoying online players is to turn off voice and chat from them or block them as needed.
Battlefield 2042 will launch in full on Nov. 19, but you can get your first taste of the Easy-Anti Cheat service during the upcoming beta on Oct. 6–9.
