Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) has become the most played game at launch in the Call of Duty series for this console generation, Activision announced on Wednesday. More than 500 million multiplayer hours have been played in its first 50 days of release. This is the biggest record of the series in six years.
Activision also reports that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has made over $1 billion USD since its release on October 25. That’s not a surprise — the game has been on the top of sales charts in the U.S. and U.K. for October and November.
Despite the fact that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has been well-received, it has also received its share of controversy. Many players from Russia drew attention to the fact that the Russian soldiers in the game are too cruel and immoral. Despite the fact that many critics and publications praise the game for its excellent storytelling, players are annoyed by the number of controversial moments in the game.
