Epic Games is opening a beta that will allow publishers and devs to submit games directly to the Epic Game Store. This offers functionality similar to Steam Direct and should lead to an influx of new titles.
The only bad news about this is that the beta is currently invite-only. But don’t worry: you can simply apply to Epic for beta consideration.
Why is Epic Games making this big movie? In a statement, they said they want the Epic Games store to “grow faster than ever before.”
“These new tools streamline the process for developers to set up their own product pages, achievements, pricing, offers, and upload builds and updates on the Epic Games Store. If you’re a developer and you’ve wanted to get your game on the Epic Games Store and in front of its 58 million monthly active users, submit your content for closed beta consideration.”
Epic Games will monitor submissions for prohibited practices such as hateful or discriminatory content, pornography, fake games, and malware. This should improve the overall quality of games available for purchase.
Do you think this beta will be successful, or will it repeat some of the mistakes of Steam Direct? Let us know in the comments below!
