Elden Ring Goes Gold, Confirms Release Date

January 24, 2022

It’s fair to say that Elden Ring is the most highly-anticipated game of 2022. And now, this FromSoftware title has finally gone gold.

That means that the master version (or “gold version”) of the game has been finalized and is ready to be translated into digital and physical copies. While updates and patches are pretty much inevitable, a game going gold means the developer is confident the game is now ready for release.

We know this news courtesy of Twitter user @EldenRingUpdate who pointed out a specific Taipei Game Show video that confirms Elden Ring’s gold status.

In short, Elden Ring is on track to make its release date for both consoles and PC on February 25. Unlike many other highly-anticipated titles, it doesn’t look like Elden Ring is going to hit any more annoying last-minute delays. It was originally set to be released this month before a delay was announced last year.

Still, FromSoftware is already hard at work on a day one patch. According to Elden Ring producer Yasuhiro Kitao at the Taipei Game Show 2022, filmed last December, “The master version has already been submitted, and right now, the team is working on a day one patch to make sure everything in the game is just so.”

“Just so” is pretty much a requirement at this point. Considering that this game is directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki (director of Dark Souls III and Bloodborne) and written in part by George R.R. Martin (of Game of Thrones fame), fans are practically drooling to see what these titanic talents have come up with.
