After seemingly endless fan speculation, Epic has announced that Fortnite’s Chapter 2 is coming to an end. This will be a jaw-dropping, one-time finale event, and we’ve got all the details about how you can participate.
When does the event start?
Mark your calendars, players. This event kicks off Dec. 4 at 1 pm. PT / 4 p.m. ET, no matter what platform you are playing on. This is a one-time event, so if you want to see it all, you need to be there on time. In fact, you should probably queue up a half hour or so early just to make sure you get in without delay.
What is the event all about?
Epic has confirmed both the existence and the start date for this finale event. Beyond that, though, they are being very cagey about what this finale will entail.
For instance, the event is called The End, but nobody knows if this is simply referring to the end of Chapter 2 or something a bit more ominous. And it seems likely that players will say goodbye to the old island (as they did at the end of Chapter 1) and say hello to a brand new island, but that is only speculation at this point.
The lack of details has caused players to speculate on the little bit of information that we do have. One example: if you look closely at the art, “The End” seems to have upside-down terrain embedded in the words. Because players have long speculated that the upcoming island (rumored to be named Artemis) will somehow be the flipside of the current island (named Apollo), some think this upside-down terrain helps verify the rumors.
What to do before The End
Long story short? We don’t know a lot about what this finale is. But we do know a lot about what you should do before that day.
First, make sure you log in before the finale event. Epic has promised to 225,000 XP as a gift to anyone who logs in before The End, and this is on top of giving these players a special wrap and loading screen.
Second, try to finish up any challenges you are working on. This includes battle pass rewards, Queen Cube challenges, and everything in between. Everything gets locked down once The End arrives, so the clock is ticking for you to finish whatever you need to finish.
Finally, now is the time to spend your gold and get extra XP! Many items are going to be half-priced so that you can spend your gold before The End. And between Nov. 26 at 4 p.m. PT / 7 p.m. ET and Nov. 29 at 4 a.m. PT / 7 a.m. ET, you can get extra XP for the final Power Leveling Weekend before The End.
Now that The End is nigh, what do you think Chapter 3 holds for players? Let us know in the comments!
