On Thursday, Fortnite had a special event — Astronomical, the premiere of a new song by Travis Scott. The event was extremely popular: thanks to Scott, the battle royale reached a new record of online players.
According to Epic Games, there were over 12.3 million Fortnite users online at the same time. According to analysts, the performance of DJ Marshmello in Fortnite took 10.7 million gamers in February 2019, and the peak value without events is 8.3 million.
Epic assures that such events have never happened before. The videos really look epic: an entire music planet approaches the island, then a huge Travis Scott appears on the location, starts playing a new track, teleports from place to place and throws the audience into the air.
Travis Scott’s Fortnite performance schedule can be found here. The Astronomical concerts will be going through Saturday, April 25. Special Astronomical-inspired items are awarded for attending the concert, performing tests and shopping in the in-game store.
